FR Engine Protection Key on VMs Running in Linux

Description

Will FR Engine’s USB protection key work if FR engine is running on a virtual machine that is installed on a Linux server?

Solution

Will FR Engine’s USB protection key work if FR engine is running on a virtual machine that is installed on a Linux server?

The USB protection key was only tested on Windows machines. It will not work on a Linux server since there are no iKey drivers for Linux .

Here are two possible workarounds:

  • Use the Network license and plug the dongle into a Windows machine.
  • Use a USB port sharing utility such as RemoteUSB. We have never tested this solution and cannot guarantee that it works properly.
