No TWAIN module or Error loading TWAIN Module: C:\Windows\Twain_32.dll

Why do I receive "No TWAIN module: C:\Windows\Twain_32.dll" message or "Error loading TWAIN Module: C:\Windows\TWAIN_32.DLL" message?

The message "C:\Windows\Twain_32.dll" usually appears when the Desktop Experience Feature is not installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. This Feature is a part of Windows Server 2008 but it is disabled by default.

If you run Windows Server 2008 R2 please go to Server Manager->Features and install the Desktop Experience.

If it does not help or you do not run the Windows Server 2008 please send to technical support* the AInfo report gathered from the machine where the issue occurs. This report (a ZIP file) can be created via the AInfo utility:

  • Go to Engine installation folder, \Bin\Support subfolder.
  • Run AInfo.exe and wait until all necessary
  • send generated archive to technical support*.

*Please see technical support contacts in support locator.
